Oak Cliff neighbor Shane Spillers, owner of Eno’s Pizza Tavern, is taking over the space.

The restaurant and bar first opened as Jack’s Backyard in the late ’00s, when it was between a trailer park and a run-down motel off West Commerce. The property is now surrounded by new apartments, which are mixed in with the neighborhood’s industrial businesses.

New owners took over about 10 years ago, adding an outdoor stage and Chicken Scratch, which originally was chef Tim Byers’ concept.

The new ownership was announced on The Foundry’s social media channels Tuesday:

“We are STOKED to announce that The Foundry / Chicken Scratch is currently being re-imagined and will soon reopen under new management and new ownership early this fall! Like many in the community, Shane Spillers loved this place before it closed and can’t wait to throw the doors back open after a little refresh of the space!”
