Dallas ISD Trustee Ben Mackey: A brisk beginning to Fall in Dallas ISD

Fall is here, and Dallas ISD has been busy! From winning awards to making sure our students and staff are safe and healthy, our schools have been taking care of business. Here are some highlights from District 7 and Dallas ISD at-large.

Two Dallas ISD Schools Awarded National Blue Ribbons: Dallas ISD had two schools named as National Blue Ribbon schools, the nation’s highest honor for schools. One of these, Trinidad “Trini” Garza Early College, is right here in District 7!
New School Design Updates — Peabody and Lenore Kirk Hall Elementary: Over the last month and a half, both George Peabody and Lenore Kirk Hall elementary schools in District 7 have had multiple meetings to solicit input from the community about what their new school buildings should look like. It was fabulous to have so many come out and make their voices heard about what they wanted in a new school!
Dallas ISD Vaccination Clinics at Campuses: Dallas ISD is proud to partner with several hospitals and healthcare organizations to make the COVID-19 vaccine available to all staff and students ages 12 and older who want it. Redistricting Begins: Every 10 years, Dallas ISD participates in redistricting to better ensure appropriate representation based on the shifts in population trends. Redistricting is the process by which the boundaries of the Dallas ISD Board of Trustees Single Member Districts (SMDs) are periodically redrawn in response to changes in population as measured by the decennial federal census. This fall, we will have the opportunity to update the boundaries of District 7 and all trustee districts. Let us know your thoughts, and stay tuned for ways to get involved.
