The Catholic Housing Initiative broke ground Tuesday on the complex at Beckley Avenue and 12th Street, on the site of Dallas County’s Oak Cliff sub courthouse.

Dallas County is building a $33-million government center and three-story parking garage a few blocks away and is leasing this 3-acre site to the nonprofit.

The Gateway Oak Cliff apartments will have 230 homes, and 184 of them will be available to families whose income is 60% or less than the adjusted median income, or about $51,700.

It will have a parking garage and “modern, clean, stylish interior design colors, textures and features,” according to a description given to KXAS.

Construction on Gateway Oak Cliff is expected to be complete in 2023. It’s is near the Interstate 35 deck park, known as the Southern Gateway Park.
