If you have had trouble finding Christmas lights, baubles, bulbs, ornaments, mistletoe or other decor it might be because all of it is contained at a single Bishop Arts address. All. Of. It.
Seriously though. 308 North Bishop and the Paradiso Mermaid Bar patio, when it all finally lit up last weekend, looks like Clark Griswold’s house or a consolidated Las Vegas. Now through the end of December, it is a pop-up hot spot called Tipsy Elf Cocktail Bar. And guys, it’s where you’ll find the whole holiday pre-game and after party. It is bright. And quirky fun. You can tell from the oversized Ralphie Parker face peering out the glass and the plastic patio reindeer. There will be many an elfie-accompanied selfie at the Elf — count on that.
Just take a ride service because parking is scarce and, well, the whole tipsy thing doesn’t mix with driving.
Hostess Gloria Devine embodies Ms. Claus and oversees nightly festivities Wednesday-Thursdays 6-midnight, Friday-Saturdays 6-2 and Sunday 3-8 p.m.
This season’s special events at Tipsy Elf include but are not limited to “karoling karaoke,” “drag bingo” and “ugly sweater and holiday onesie parties.”
Up next, Thursday, Dec. 2, is the Elf’s “Naughty Cookie Decorating & Photos w/ Daddy Santa” event from 7-9 p.m.
“Decorating Christmas cookies is one of Larry’s [the elf’s] favorite holiday traditions even though Mrs. Clause never let him pick out the cookie cutters … until now,” note the organizers. “Decorate naughty cookies to pair with your boozy holiday beverages and snap your Christmas photos with Daddy Santa.”
