And a new brick-and-mortar bookstore called Whose Books is moving in, at Tyler and Polk.

The team at Whose Books is stocking shelves and prepping to open this month. Follow their Instagram page to stay abreast of the progress.

Owner Claudia Vega — Oak Cliff resident, educator and published children’s author — is a new contributing writer to the Advocate magazines. Check out her first column in the November issue.

The independent retailer also is seeking teachers — elementary, middle and high school — to spotlight. Selected educators will recommend books, host a story read aloud and an optional private book club after-hours meetup. In return their students receive 10% off store purchases and Whosebooks will promote their classroom wish list for sponsorship.

While we’re waiting for Whosebooks’ debut, Lucky Dog books on Jefferson regularly receives new inventory and posts its book of the day recommendations on Facebook.

Poets Oak Cliff remains its charming, inviting, carefully curated self on Bishop.

The Wild Detectives are unyieldingly engaged, hosting regular events at its cozy 8th Street locale.

Or make a trade at the nearest Little Free Library, whose games very much stepped up when the world shut down.
