Dallas County opened its new Oak Cliff Government Center on East Jefferson between South Lancaster and 10th this week.

The two-story building comprises 43,000 square feet and includes a three-story parking garage with 240 spaces. Dallas County Justice of the Peace Juan Jasso, plus constable, tax and truancy offices are located there.

The $33-million building is full of art, including this mosaic floor inlay by Viola Delgado, depicting Oak Cliff as well as the Trinity River and acknowledging its native name, Arkikosa.

The building features these exterior murals by iam450.

This wall-size panel is Purple Mountain Majesty by Viola Delgado.

And this one is Facing the Future, Remembering the Past by Nicolás González.

Artwork also includes a collection of woven wool pieces from Mexico and Guatemala, such as this Aztec Calendar.

The old government building on Beckley at 12th has been demolished, and mixed-income housing is currently under construction there.
