Jesse Acosta and Alejandra Zendejas of Pasos for Oak Cliff appeared on “LIVE with Kelly and Ryan” Tuesday.

Acosta, an American history teacher at Kimball High School, felt for students walking around in worn out shoes. So he and his girlfriend, Zendejas, started the nonprofit to outfit students with sneakers they can be proud to wear.

Acosta and Zendejas are sneaker enthusiasts who are both from Oak Cliff.

Pasos for Oak Cliff has been so successful that it now gives out scholarships. The nonprofit awarded scholarships of $5,000 (and a pair of new sneakers) to 13 high school graduates in July.

The talk show gave the nonprofit $5,000 during their segment Tuesday. Watch below.
