Manuel Tellez, 45, has been charged with murder in the death of Anthony Moreno, 52, on the morning of Sunday, April 3.

Police say Tellez live-streamed the interview, which has since been deleted, about Moreno’s artwork shortly before he killed him, according to an arrest warrant affidavit.

The affidavit states that Moreno and Tellez shared a “romantic interest” in the same woman.

Moreno’s friends and family members posted messages on social media Sunday that said he was missing and last seen at Maroches Bakery, which Tellez owns.

The Dallas Police Department found Moreno’s body in an alley behind the 1300 block of Kings Highway, about three blocks from Maroches Bakery. The body had been burned, and police could not immediately identify the victim.

Moreno was an artist, and the two were acquainted through an art scene around markets and events, friends say. Maroches is known for its community markets that drew start-up businesses, jewelry makers and artists.

After DPD notified the family of Moreno’s death, Tellez shared a post about a meal-train for the victim’s family on Facebook.

The phone number for Maroches Bakery was also listed on one of the flyers when Moreno was missing.

Tellez has been charged with murder and is in the Dallas County jail with bail set at $1.5 million.
