Enter for a chance to win 2 tickets in joining The Oak Cliff Society of Fine Arts, as you learn how the first-ever museum introspective for Octavio Medellín (1907-1999), an influential Mexican American artist and teacher whose work helped shape the Texas art scene for six decades, came together on Thursday, May 12 at 7pm. Dr. Mark Castro, the Jorge Baldor Curator of Latin American Art for the Dallas Museum of Art, will guide us through exhibit highlights.
“The DMA’s exhibit, Spirit and Form, includes a gallery displaying the sketches made by Medellín during his stay in the Yucatan in the 1930s. Our program will include a small exhibit, Plumas Mayas Antes y Ahora, by artist Ricardo Alarcón of Mayan headdresses in the spirit of those sketches.”
