Dallas Ambient Music Nights, that is.

Cody McPhail started that event more than seven years ago at the Prophet Bar, creating an outlet for ambient and experimental musicians and video artists from Dallas and all over the place.

The list of past performers includes Laraaji, Dallas Acid, Matthewdavid, SRSQ, Kyle Dixon, Mattie and Steve Hauschildt.

After 39 Dallas Ambient Music Nights, it’s time for a celebration.

The 40th edition will be Saturday, Aug. 6, at the Texas Theatre. Since 40 is XL in roman numerals, they’re billing it as “DAMN XL.”

Here are the lineup and artist bios, taken from a media release:

Andrea Cortez is a music therapist based in Austin and composes beautiful, ethereal music on harp.

Brianne Sargent is a composer, arranger and producer based in Dallas who performs music in her band Skinny Cooks and also plays with Polyphonic Spree.

Bryan Gary is located in Austin and performs modular synthesizer music in which he creates meditative, introspective and highly emotional sonic journeys.

Dallas native Brian Tomerlin creates incredibly deep ambient electronic music with modular synthesis and processed electric guitar. He will also display video.

Heavy Refuge is a new media artist/installation creator that will be filling the lobby of the Texas Theatre with CRT television sets that will be broadcasting their live video art.

Diana Rojas is an interdisciplinary artist whose research explores human attempts and desires to engage with the invisible and sublime through installation, video, sound and sculpture.

Zak Loyd is a media artist and educator interested in mystical ramifications of video art histories, post-truth culture and pop-gnosis.

Tomerlin, in addition to performing music, will be displaying his unique style of live video synthesis that he has been honing and perfecting for many years.

Andy Bryan, also known as mute fx, designs, directs, performs, and produces art in an array of mediums, including light, video, and sound.

DJ Mutarrancho aka Ernesto Montiel will be selecting the music in the lobby for the evening. He is an experimental musician, event coordinator, and one half of minimalist guitar and drum duo, Monte Espina.

Tickets cost $20.
