Don Maison, who died in February at age 74, was among the men who in 1979 began standing up against the Dallas Police Department’s raids of gay bar the Village Station. He was CEO of AIDS Services of Dallas on Marsalis for 32 years.

Mayor Pro-Tem Chad West and Council members Omar Narvaez and Gay Willis joined AIDS Services of Dallas’ Traswell C. Livingston III, County Commissioner Elba Garcia and Texas state Rep. Jessica Gonzalez in unveiling the sign-toppers this week.

The sign-toppers, which read “In Honor of Don Maison,” are on Marsalis between Colorado Boulevard and Sabine Street.
