Site of the Palmiero Cafe coming to Bishop Arts. By Christina Hughes Babb

Palmieri Cafe — known as the Insta-adorable Italian espresso, cornetto and gelato stop along the Dallas Farmers Market mall — will open soon in Bishop Arts, at 307 North Bishop (formerly the Skin and Beauty Solutions Day Spa, which closed in 2020).

Corrado Palmieri founded Palmieri Cafe. The Southern Italy native relocated from his home in Salento, “a strip of land on the heel of the boot” to “develop an Italian coffee shop and bakery without compromise — fresh, authentic and natural,” per Dallas Farmers Market marketing. The cafe opened there in 2016.

The staff makes everything from scratch and adheres to the slow food philosophy, according to a promotional video.

Some of us enjoy walking around Bishop Arts during off hours, say 1:15 p.m. on a Tuesday, getting heavily caffeinated and sugared up for a late night of writing about affordable housing, and Palmiere is going to make a great addition to The SaltyEspumosoLa ReunionCocoAndre-White Rhino rotation.

Construction and remodeling at this address has been going on for several months. Signs indicating that Palmieri is hiring baristas, bakers and bakers assistants for this new location just popped up. If interested, apply at palmiericafe.com/careers.

The Palmieri logo (which appeared on the 307 North Bishop building several months ago, as you can see on Google’s street view) is a red ballerina with a veil dancing to tambourines — an image representing the pizzica dance, notes Palmieri on its website.

“Our logo is to remind us our roots and what we are trying to accomplish: the hope and the ambition to deliver a moment of freedom of joy.”
