A developer wants to build a Sprouts Farmers Market grocery and a couple of restaurants on Fort Worth Avenue.
The City Plan Commission, after sending the proposal to the city’s Urban Design Peer Review Panel earlier this year, said denied a rezoning request for the project saying it doesn’t comply with urban standards set years ago for the thoroughfare.
“The site has physical constraints that would not allow the grocery store site plan to meet the zoning criteria which is why we requested a variance,” Colton Wright of Vista Property Co. said in August.
Good news for Sprouts fans: The company hasn’t given up on the site, which currently comprises Elrod’s Cost Plus and a Chinese buffet that used to be a Luby’s.
A community meeting with City Councilman Chad West and the developers is next week.
