District 7 Monthly Updates

Adjustment of School Day Calendar: The U.S. will hold Midterm Elections on Tuesday, November 8. As a reminder, Dallas ISD will make Election Day a staff development day. We are making this change for two major reasons. The primary and most important reason is student and staff safety – many of our schools are used as voting locations and will have hundreds or thousands of people going in and out throughout the day. The second reason is to be able to give our staff and eligible students the ability to utilize the day to go and vote.

Things you need to know about voting before the election: Dallas ISD has partnered with March to the Polls to encourage all eligible voters to vote in this election. It’s not too late to register and make your voice heard! The voter registration deadline is Oct. 11. The last day to apply to vote by mail is Oct. 28. Early voting is Oct. 24-Nov. 4.

Nine District 7 teachers receive funding through Junior League of Dallas: During a ceremony held Sept. 15, the Junior League of Dallas and Texas Instruments awarded 52 Dallas ISD educators grants of up to $2,500 each through the annual Grants for Innovative Teaching (GFIT) program. Click the link above to view a full list of teachers and schools awarded.

As always, if you have questions, thoughts or simply want to sit down and have a deeper conversation about anything DISD related, I am always willing to grab a coffee and chat or set up a Zoom. Just reach out to me at BenMackey@dallasisd.org.
