While fall has been slowly making its way to Dallas, the school year continued to roll forward. Please find this month’s summary below:

Dallas ISD District 7 Monthly Updates

  • Eight District 7 schools receive innovative teacher grants: 52 educators across Dallas ISD received innovative teacher grants, including educators from eight District 7 schools. The projects range from “Novel Engineering Lab” to “Teaching Calm.” To view a full list of awarded teachers, click the link above.
  • Two Dallas ISD schools win 2022 blue ribbon awards: Dallas ISD’s School for the Talented and Gifted and School of Science & Engineering received the 2022 National Blue Ribbon Award, which is the highest honor a school can earn from the US Department of Education.

Sept. board meeting debriefing: This month, Dallas ISD had its regular board briefing and meeting. I want to highlight two areas that were addressed:

Student Outcomes Goal Progress: Every month, the board receives updates on Dallas ISD’s academic progress toward achieving our district’s adopted student outcome goals. This month, we reviewed progress toward two of those goals. In Goal #1, student achievement on state assessments, Dallas ISD saw a 6-point jump from last year (42). This was a big gap and we made up nearly all our pandemic losses, but still have a long way to go. In Goal #5, middle-grade student achievement, we saw an even larger growth of 8 points, from 31 to 39. We will continue to monitor progress and look forward to another major increase this year. You can see the full report HERE.

As always, if you have questions, thoughts or simply want to sit down and have a deeper conversation about anything DISD related, I am always willing to grab a coffee and chat or set up a Zoom. Just reach out to me at BenMackey@dallasisd.org.
