With Thanksgiving behind us and December fast approaching, this weekend will bring the first major wave of holiday cheer to the city. Here are some of the holiday events coming to Oak Cliff and Dallas this weekend.

Deck the Plaza – Friday, Dec. 2

This free, family friendly celebration will feature bounce houses, live music, carriage rides and snow, just to name a few of the many attractions. Beginning at 5:30 p.m. and running until 8 p.m., the event will culminate with a tree lighting. The event will take place at City Hall Plaza.

Daddy Santa & Mrs. Claus – Friday, Dec. 2

Everyone’s favorite Christmas themed cocktail bar, the Tipsy Elf, will ring in the weekend with the debut appearance of “Daddy Santa,” as well as Mrs. Claus — also known as drag queen Gloria Devine. Parents be warned, this is a 21+ Santa Claus appearance “for naughty girls and boys,” according to the Tipsy Elf’s website. For a kid friendly Santa meet and greet, Tipsy Elf will hold a “Little’s Night” on Tuesday Nov. 9, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tipsy Elf is located in the Bishop Arts District.

TRE Ride with Santa and Parade – Saturday, Dec. 3

Mr. and Mrs. Claus will popping onto the TRE train this weekend, riding all the way into downtown for the Dallas Holiday Parade. There will be three opportunities Saturday morning to ride the train with the Claus’s before the parade. The schedule can be found here. Each train ride will end at EBJ Union Station, and there will be photo opportunities with the Claus Family.

The EBJ Union Station is only a two minute walk from the start of the Dallas Holiday Parade, which will roll from the intersection of S Market Street and Commerce Street. The parade will start at 10 a.m. and last around two hours. The parade is free, but bleacher seating is offered. Tickets for a bleacher seat can be purchased here.

Kiest Park Holiday Festival – Saturday, Dec. 3

Bringing things back to Oak Cliff, Kiest Park will host its own holiday festival and tree lighting from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Saturday. With crafts, a hot chocolate station, photos with Santa and a kids zone full of inflatables, this free event is perfect for the whole family. The tree lighting ceremony will begin at 5:30 p.m. and at 26-feet tall, that spruce is sure to bring plenty of cheer for all. Cowtown dogs and Wingfield will be onsite, although food is an additional cost. For free parking, enter through the Kiest/Conservation entrance or Rugged entrance.

Bishop Bazaar – Sunday, Dec. 4

Get your present shopping done at the Bishop Bazaar this Sunday. With over 100 vendors, this holiday street market is sure to have something for everyone. Some featured goods are vintage fashion, locally made jewelry and home decor. With live music, food and drinks, the event will be full of festivities. Running from 12 p.m. to 8 p.m., the market will begin on the corner of 9th Street and Bishop Avenue and span down 9th street.
