Next Monday, The Wild Detectives will host an event showcasing experimental Black films and music.
The event, titled “X,” is curated by Mattie, an Oak Cliff-based singer and DJ. It will begin with a short film from director Ciara Boniface titled “Dirty Money,” which tells the story of three women robbing a group of drug dealers in order to escape their own desperate situations. The rest of the night will feature different musical acts.
According to The Wild Detectives’ website, “The diversity of music and film at X is rich in Southern culture, yet also embodies the modern expression of a global Afro-American influence.” The event will begin at 7:00 p.m. on Dec. 16 and it will run until 1 a.m. Tickets are $15 when purchased through presale or $26 at the door.
