Dallas Police found both tamarin monkeys in the closet of an abandoned home in Lancaster, Texas Tuesday evening.

Police said they received a tip that lead them to the home. Both monkeys appeared to be safe, and the Zoo was contacted to arrange their return.

No arrest has been made and the investigation remains ongoing, police say.

The Dallas police are asking for the public’s help in identifying a man who they believe may have information about two emperor tamarin monkeys that were taken from the Zoo Monday.

“Dallas Police are looking for the public’s help in identifying the pictured individual,” police said.

In a 25 second long video released by police, the man is seen walking through the entrance of the Zoo.

Police are asking anyone with information on the pictured individual to call Detective Edwin Saracay at 214-671-4509 or at Edwin.saracay@dallaspolice.gov.

This is the first insight Dallas Police have given regarding the investigation into a series of mysterious happenings at the zoo.

Yesterday, the Zoo announced two emperor tamarin monkeys were missing from their enclosure. Officials said they believed the monkeys had been taken.

Earlier this month, an endangered vulture died of unusual causes. Officials also found intentional tampering with several exhibits following the escape of a clouded leopard named Nova.
