This video, from the WFAA via the G. William Jones Collection at Southern Methodist University, shows how life has changed for Dallas drivers since the 1970s.
Aside from the vehicle models and the option to drink a beer while braving traffic — as evidenced by the mustachioed man smoking a cigarette and sipping a Coors in his car on a frozen January 1977 morning — the scenes are not so different from these days.
Minor accidents were being called in at a rate of one every three minutes for 10 hours straight, according to the broadcaster.
