Last month, the Advocate wrote about Emporium Pie’s naming contest for a pie made in collaboration with Oak Cliff Coffee Roasters and Five Mile Chocolate.

While hundreds of name suggestions were submitted only one could win, and that was The Bonnie and Pie’d.

The name was submitted by Megan Halila Gray (congratulations on the free pie, Megan) and reflects our neighborhood in name just as it does in ingredients.

With Oak Cliff Coffee espresso and Five Mile Chocolate milk chocolate, toffee caramel sauce and vanilla whipping cream in a signature Emporium Pie graham cracker crust, it’s no wonder this pie has our neighborhood buzzing. The Emporium Pies Instagram page says the pie is so good “it should be outlaw’d.”

Only one name could be chosen for the pie, but based on the Advocate Facebook comment section alone, it must have been a difficult task to judge. We received nearly 400 name suggestions in our comment box, although, we would like to remind everyone these were not official submissions and the Advocate was not involved in this judging process.

But while we were not judges, we would like to hand out some honorable mentions from our comment section.

Honorable mentions:

The Dirty Trinity – Patricia Jimenez

Moch-Liff  – Meredith McClelland

The Cliff Hanger – Tom Hardison

The Bonnie and Pie’d will be available starting March 17, and we can not wait to try a slice.
