Valentine’s Day is a week away, so now is the time to brainstorm how to show your special someone you love them — Oak Cliff style.

Putting together the perfect plan for Valentine’s Day can be a stressor, but never fear, the Advocate is here. Here is something to eat, something to give and something to do, all from around our neighborhood.

Chow down on The Salty Donut

Want to get cupid’s arrows flying first thing in the morning? The Salty Donut has you covered.

This Bishop Arts donut shop is accepting preorders for a Valentine’s Day donut box that comes with two chocolate covered strawberry heart donuts and two traditional glazed donuts, plus a card that you can customize with a special note for your loved one.

The box is $15, and today, Feb. 7, is the last day to submit your preorder.

If you miss the deadline, no worries. The Salty Donut will still sell their Valentine’s Day donuts on Feb. 13 and Feb. 14 in store. As a bonus, The Salty Donut Instagram page says there will also be a florist in store on Feb. 14 so you can pick up a bouquet to pair with those donuts.

We donut know what we’d do without this deal.

Adopt an animal at the Dallas Zoo

This Valentine’s Day, you can adopt your loved one’s favorite animal at the Dallas Zoo.

Not only will your loved one receive a stuffed animal, two general admission tickets to the zoo, an adoption certificate and other goodies, you can feel good knowing your money is going towards the Zoo’s environmental impact efforts.

Adoptable animals include the African lion, African elephant, African penguin, Caribbean flamingo, Nile hippopotamus, reticulated giraffe, Sumatran tiger cub, two-toed sloth and western lowland gorilla.

The package is $98 and comes with Valentine’s Day themed packaging.

Take your true romance to the Texas Theater

Are the traditional Valentine’s Day X’s and O’s a little much for you? Head on over to the Texas Theater where there will be a screening of Tony Scott & Quentin Tarantino’s True Romance at 8 p.m. on Feb. 14.

True Romance is sure to give you all the love you need while steering very clear from the fluffy stuff.

Adult tickets are $12.50 a piece, and the theater will be selling Emporium Pies as a special treat for the evening.
