City council member Chad West was reelected to serve a third term as the District 1 representative Saturday night.

West won 2,132 votes for 52.11% of the total.

Albert Mata won 39.43% of the votes and Mariana Griggs won 8.46%.

“This is a win for every block, every neighborhood, and every family in Oak Cliff. Together, we will continue our work to preserve what makes Oak Cliff the best community in Dallas while planning for our shared future,” West said in a statement Saturday night.

The election continued a trend of low voter turnout, with 4,091 District 1 residents casting votes in total. In 2021, 4,009 people voted compared to 5,965 votes cast in 2019.

City wide, only 8.8% of registered voters voted in the May 6 election.
