A farmers market will be set up at the event selling produce, and will accept SNAP and EBT.

Juneteenth became a national holiday in 2021, commemorating the emancipation of enslaved African Americans in the United States.

On June 19, 1865, Union army general Gordon Granger arrived with 2,000 soldiers in Galveston and announced the emancipation of enslaved Texans. The event came two and a half years after the Emancipation Proclamation and more than three months after the end of the American Civil War.

Other Juneteenth celebrations in Dallas include a Black History tour at Old City Park, speakers at the African American Museum and a march for emancipation and equity at William Blair Jr. Park.
