The Oct. 5 mammogram appointments will be part of the 11th annual Bishop Arts Eat, Drink, Pink! festival and concert.

Patients over the age of 40 who would like to schedule a free-of-charge mammogram can call 214.933.7200, and patients under the age of 40 can call 214.947.1771.

Outside of Oak Cliff, mammograms can be scheduled at UNT Dallas on Nov. 11 and Empowering the Masses on Dec. 5.

Two-time breast-cancer survivor, and one of the Advocate’s 2018 “Fierce Females,” Sheri Mathis founded the Mammogram Poster Girls in 2017 after years of fundraising for mammograms.

“Early detection saved my life. I am still here because I had my annual mammograms,” Mathis told the Advocate in 2019. “I am a mammogram poster girl. I lost a friend to breast cancer recently — she put off having a mammogram because of the cost. I have made it my mission to help raise as much as we can to fund mammograms and educate women (and men) about how important early detection is.”
