Local artisan bakery Oak Cliff Bread Co. is opening a brick-and-mortar location at Tyler Station this fall.

Founders Tyler Rooney and his wife Chayanne ran the bakery from their home in 2020 after Rooney was laid off from Maccellaio, he told the Advocate back in 2021. Now, a few years later, they are moving out of their kitchen and into a crafted space for their baked crafts that are sourced from local Texas mills, a distinguished feature.

When they first started, they’d invested in a refrigerator that held up to 60 loaves and a compact bread oven.

As they’ve grown to be a hot commodity in the neighborhood with orders coming in left and right, their home-business was taking over the house.

Rooney told Dallas Culture Map that “it was taking over the laundry room and the kitchen, and we began to see the wisdom of getting an actual space.”

In 2021, Rooney told the Advocate that he sold about 150 loaves, baguettes, and pastries a week, and the business has continued to grow since.

Similar to what they do now per prior Advocate reporting, Oak Cliff Bread Co. will start with two bake days a week. The store will be open on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday for customers to come in and shop.

With this new step, the cottage bakery will continue to strive for its mission, “to spotlight Texas wheat and connect the community with its farmers and millers,” according to their website.
