According to a statement from DWU that was shared to social media by city council member for District 1 Chad West, the water line impacting customers has been identified and water pressure is expected to return to normal over the course of the morning.

West said he has heard from residents in Eat Kessler, Kidd Springs, Bishop Arts and Jefferson Boulevard about the issue. Six DISD schools have been impacted, although it was not immediately clear at time of publishing which schools.

The post said part of the delay in fixing the water line has been a lack of 311 reports from neighbors, making it difficult to pinpoint the impacted area.

“I have asked staff to explain to me why our system is unable to utilize technology to better pinpoint this problem. I suspect it’s because the pipes are older than most of us who live in Oak Cliff,” the post said.

DWU believes the issue might be a result of levee work being done by the Corps of Engineers. The line that is experiencing difficulties is in the levee system.

City staff are also working with the Office of Emergency management to see if there are any other immediate solutions available.
