Dallas has become a destination for those hoping to view the eclipse as our city is within the line of totality. According to Western Heights Cemetery volunteer Van Johnson, “this is probably the best opportunity there will ever be” to photograph dozens of out of town family members who are visiting Dallas for the event.

Among those buried in the cemetery are Clyde Barrow, members of the Coombes family, confederate soldiers and Dallas pioneers.

The photos will be taken April 7 at 3:00 p.m., with cemetery tours before and after.

Johnson is asking descendants to bring a photo of their loved one buried in the cemetery for the group photo. Rhea Leen Linder, the living niece of Bonnie Parker, will also be photographed as volunteers continue trying to move the historic figure’s grave closer to Clyde Barrow’s.

On April 8, the cemetery will host an eclipse watch party with glasses available for the first 100 attendees. History and Habitat Tours will be offered before and after the eclipse.
