The 18th annual Dallas International Film Festival will be held from Thursday, April 25 through Thursday, May 2. This year will feature eleven world premieres, plus a stacked lineup of highly-anticipated movies working the festival circuit and a number of household names gracing the screen.
The seven-day event opens with the world premiere of Dude Perfect: A Very Long Shot, an ESPN Films 30 For 30 documentary following the Frisco-based YouTube personalities.
Two other high profile sports documentaries are set to follow throughout the week.
Clemente from executive producers LeBron James and Richard Linklater tells the story of MLB legend Roberto Clemente. It shows on Sunday, April 28, at Violet Crown Cinema, 4:15.
All I Ever Wanted profiles former NBA player Greivis Vasquez as he’s suddenly confronted with a career-ending injury. NBA legends Kevin Durant, Manu Ginobili and Kyle Lowry are interviewed. The film’s world premiere on Sunday, April 28, at Violet Crown Cinema, 7:15.
Speaking of world premieres, All I Ever Wanted is one of eleven feature films making their debut at DIFF this year, along with Holly By Nightfall, Print It Black, Racing Mister Fahrenheit, Ride, The Senior, Stakes Is High, Unlikely Allies, Water Wars and Dark Sanctuary: The Story of the Church. DIFF is also welcoming two new releases from A24.
I Saw The TV Glow is a highly-touted supernatural horror project from up-and-coming filmmaker Jane Schoenbrun. It screens Saturday, April 27, at Violet Crown Cinema, 10:15.
Sing Sing tells the true story of a theatre group comprised of incarcerated men. It closes DIFF on Thursday, May 2 with a screening at 7:00 and one at 9:30, followed by a gala. Both will be held at Violet Crown Cinema.
Based on a book by Robinne Lee, The Idea Of You is perhaps DIFF’s most anticipated screening. It stars Anne Hathaway and Nicholas Galitzine as a 40-year-old single mom and a 24-year-old pop star who strike up an unlikely romance. It shows on Saturday, April 27 at Violet Crown Cinema, 7:00.
DIFF also features two DFW-centric films.
Bastards Of Soul follows the iconic Texas band through their meteoric rise and sudden tragic loss of lead singer Chadwick Murray. It will be shown on Saturday, April 27, at the Texas Theatre, 7:00.
Texas Music Revolution is a documentary about a yearly McKinney music festival of the same name. Hosted by KHYI 95.3 The Range, TMR takes over the downtown McKinney square for a two-day music onslaught where stages can be found inside of boutiques or between alleyways. The 2024 lineup is headlined by Lyle Lovett and Lukas Nelson. It screens at twice at DIFF on Saturday, April 27, at the Texas Theatre at 4:00 and on Wednesday, May 1 at Violet Crown Cinema, 4:00.
