Hasty’s latest project is a biography titled I Believe in You, The Incredible Journey of R&B Legend Johnnie Taylor. Taylor was from Oak Cliff and had his music office on I-35 across from the zoo. He was the first American artist to earn a platinum record with his release of “Disco Lady,” and his career spanned 60 years. He is one of the all-time notable icons of soul and R&B, nationally and internationally.

The biography captures thoughts and memories from Taylor’s children, former girlfriends, devoted friends, and professional associates and sheds light on his many admirable qualities, despite the nature, degree, and number of challenges he faced. Hasty wrote the book with T.J. Hooker Taylor, Johnnie’s son, and offers a carefully researched account. It is the first written narrative of the renowned entertainer.

Hasty’s previous project was a book detailing the history of Oak Cliff, titled Oak Cliff and the Missing Pieces. Over 125 biographies of people who have made notable contributions to Oak Cliff are included in the book. Since the start of COVID, Hasty has published Unsettled Business, Jana and Lydia, I’m a Nobody, and Woodstockers. The Taylor biography is his sixth book.

I Believe in You can be ordered through several websites, including Barnes and Noble and Amazon.
