A 15-year-old girl was shot and killed Tuesday morning in East Oak Cliff, according to Dallas police.
Officers responded to a call about gunfire in the 200 block of McVey Avenue at about 9:35 a.m., according to a statement from Dallas police. When officers arrived at the scene, they found that the female victim had been shot. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
The victim has been identified as 15-year-old Joslenn Esparza.
It is not immediately clear what happened in the moments leading up to the shooting, and police did not release any information about a suspect. Police said the investigation is ongoing.
