Dallas native and photographer Brent Kollock will be back in the Lone Star State this week.
The SMU graduate is promoting his new book, Charrería, Mexico’s National Treasure, after over four years of shooting the traditional rodeo of Mexico. Charrería is one of Mexico’s national sports and are known as the first ‘cowboys’ in the Western Hemisphere.
The Bishop Arts location of the Photographique gallery will host an evening of photos, stories and books of Kollock on Thursday, Oct. 23 from 6-9 p.m.
Kollock will present his work and discuss his time working and living with the charros in Mexico for the project.
Other north Texas charros and escaramuzas will join the event to show off their artisanal clothing and gear, along with talking about the sport in the area and answering attendee questions.
