Find a well-rounded student experience in YOUR neighborhood schools

Find a well-rounded student experience in our neighborhood schools.

Believe it or not, another year is behind us. While the pandemic has continued to be ever-present in our lives, I am proud of the work Dallas ISD has done to keep our students, families and staff as safe as possible while continuing to put high-quality education first. Below you’ll find this month’s summary of what’s happening in Dallas ISD and an update from our December meeting:

Neighborhood schools are the foundation of our communities. The neighborhood schools across Dallas have some phenomenal programs and academics. December Board Meeting Debrief: This month, Dallas ISD had its regular board briefing and meeting. The major item for discussion and vote this month was the culmination of our redistricting process.

Redistricting Outcomes: The Dallas ISD School Board voted to approve redistricting maps based on the information from the 2020 Census. As a reminder, redistricting is the process of redrawing voting boundaries every 10 years, based on the U.S. census. It won’t affect what schools your students attend, only what district in which you elect a trustee. The adopted map is here: Final Map – Adopted Dec 2021

Over the course of these last four months, Dallas ISD and trustees have held over 35 community meetings and hosted two tele-townhalls, engaging thousands of community members all over the Dallas area to get input on this process. I am thankful for all who joined our monthly meetings, reached out with questions and input, and advocated for a fair, transparent, and equitable process and outcome.

As always, if you have questions, thoughts or simply want to sit down and have a deeper conversation about the process and outcomes, I am always willing to grab a coffee and chat. Just reach out to me at BenMackey@dallasisd.org.
