A winter storm late on Feb. 2 left Dallas below freezing and the streets covered with ice.

By nightfall on Feb. 3, volunteers from Kessler Park United Methodist Church had picked up almost 30 people off the streets of Dallas in the Wesley-Rankin van and taken them to the city’s emergency shelter at Fair Park.

The Kessler Park church committed to providing three breakfasts at Fair Park during the winter event, and Norma’s stepped in to help.

Volunteers served 3,000 breakfasts of biscuits and gravy, eggs and bacon over three days.
