If your favorite Three’s Company So. Cal circa 1980 vibe is that of neither Chrissy nor Janet but rather Roper — Mrs. Helen Roper — sashay over to this new Bishop Arts boutique.
Amy O. Hampton — purveyor of caftans, those long and loose dresses with flow-y sleeves made popular in the 1950s, 60s (and, yes, by the sitcom landlord’s dissatisfied wife whose style inspired a modern day Roper Romp trend) and other lounge wear for women of all sizes and ages — recently opened her Amy Holly flagship store in Suite B at 111 North Bishop Ave.
The bleached brick block building adjacent to the sandy Camp Bishop courtyard seems custom made for Hampton’s rainbow-hued collection. That’s evidenced in an Instagram photo of the shop owner perched on the porch, framed by a mid-century-style terrace, wearing a floor-length indigo striped smock — bouncy curls tucked behind one ear to reveal a big hoop earring — fit for a pool party in a Paul Thomas Anderson movie.
“YES ???????? AMY HOLLY ???? in Bishop Arts ???? is OPEN for business!,” reads the commentary below.
According to a feature in Southern Dallas Magazine, the stylista’s goal is not only to provide comfortable, gorgeous, high-quality clothing but also inclusivity.
“The Amy Holly brand prides itself on stylish and timeless clothing options for women of all sizes, ranging from 2 to 22,” according to the magazine.
“Every woman can find the perfect outfit that flatters her body and enhances her confidence,” Hampton tells the mag. “Each garment is meticulously crafted with attention to detail and uses only the finest materials, resulting in exquisite pieces that are both comfortable and elegant.”
Hampton also shared with the publication that she plans to rent out the shop on occasion for private events that allow guests to browse and sip Sociologie Wines, “a specialty wine brand that perfectly complements the Amy Holly aesthetic.”
