A robber briefly held a customer hostage at the Walgreens on Hampton at Ledbetter Sunday.

The Dallas Police Department responded to a call reporting a stolen vehicle spotted in the area. It was a 1999 green pickup that had been taken at gunpoint in a carjacking around 2 a.m. Saturday.

When police tried to pull over the truck, its driver ran into the Walgreens store and held a 70-year-old woman at gunpoint, according to KDFW. The SWAT team surrounded the store.

The man eventually released the woman and walked out of the store without incident. Police arrested 30-year-old Jose Torres and charged him with aggravated kidnapping. His bond had not been set Sunday night.

Police also suspect Torres in the Saturday carjacking as well as the armed robbery of a Jack in the Box in Wynnewood early Saturday morning. They believe he may have been involved in other fast-food robberies recently.
