The Dallas City Council is expected to consider the Oak Cliff Gateway plan tonight. The city has been working on this plan, which sets goals and zoning plans for part of north Oak Cliff, since 2007. You can read the plan here. It covers a wedge of land that fronts the Trinity River and is bounded by Interstate 35, Beckley and Zang.

The plan’s objectives include making sure that development contributes to the character and sense of place of the area. It also provides goals for public transportation, including pedestrian and bicycle traffic. It also would limit high-density development near residential neighborhoods.
