A teacher at Trinidad "Trini" Garza Early College High School at Mountain View College is one of 20 educators selected nationwide to shape a national achievement test. Bennet O’Connor, who teaches science, is a panelist for the Science National Assessment of Educational Progress.
The assessment is used for statistical data that governments and schools can use to find out how their student populations are doing. The data from fourth, eighth and twelfth graders is broken down by gender and race, for example, but it’s not used to assess individual students like the TAKS.
