Here are three opportunities to help improve education in our neighborhood this year.
The mission of Girls Inc. of Metropolitan Dallas is to “inspire all girls to be strong, smart and bold.” They need volunteers — tutors, mentors and reading-group leaders — at campuses in Oak Cliff, West Dallas, South Dallas and Love Field. Or make a donation here.
The Vickery Meadow Learning Center needs volunteers at its campuses in West Dallas, East Dallas and Lake Highlands to teach English as a second language to adults. All classes are co-taught from easy to follow curriculum. No previous teaching experience or foreign language skills are necessary. Donate here.
Reading Partners North Texas also needs volunteers at its reading centers throughout Dallas, including several in Oak Cliff. You can also contribute by buying something from the nonprofit’s Amazon wish list or making a donation.
