In honor of that, we throw it back to this March 2015 story about some of the baseball men and teams who played at Burnett Field in Oak Cliff for some 50 years.

Burnett Field opened at Jefferson and Colorado in 1925. It was home to several teams in the Texas League, including the Dallas Rangers, and the last pro game was played there in 1964. Dave Hoskins integrated baseball in the South there, five years after Jackie Robinson broke the color barrier in Major League Baseball, in 1952.
