There are two new restaurants in the neighborhood, each locally owned by Oak Cliff residents.
Kessler Pie Co. owner Armida Ortega started selling pies out of her home in Kessler Plaza in November. And business has been so good that she is opening a storefront at 416 N. Tyler. Whole pies cost $30-$35, and they also sell “pie in a jar” for $6-$9. The storefront could open as soon as next month. Culturemap has more about Ortega here.
Oak Cliff native Luis Olvera, whose trompo tacos previously could be found only at backyard parties and, more recently, out of the Kessler Theater kitchen, now has a storefront. Olvera opened his West Dallas restaurant, Trompo, in the 800 block of Singleton this week.
