The Bishop Arts Theatre Center’s 2017 season kicks off in October with “Unchain My Heart: A Tribute to Ray Charles.”

That show stars popular jazz musician Joe McBride, who like Charles is blind. That show runs Oct. 26-29.

The theater’s annual production of “Black Nativity” runs Dec. 1-17.

“Thurgood,” a play about the first African American United States Supreme Court justice, runs Feb. 8-25, 2018. Special performances can be arranged for school field trips.

“Down for the Count,” a short-play festival celebrating female playwrights, runs April 5-15, 2018.

“Banned Together: A Censorship Cabaret” is a celebration of free speech during banned books week, Sept. 24-30, 2018.
