West Dallas firefighter killed in helicopter crash

A West Dallas firefighter perished with four others in a helicopter crash in New York City Sunday Night.

The helicopter, which had been chartered for a photo shoot, crashed into the East River at 7 p.m. New York time.

Officer Brian McDaniel, 26, was assigned to Fire Station 36 and had been employed by Dallas Fire Rescue since May 2016. McDaniel worked as a videographer on the side.

A Dallas-born journalist, Trevor Cadigan, also died in the crash. Cadigan recently took a job with Business Insider in New York.
