Watch ‘War Is Hell’ for 90 cents on JFK 55th anniversary (which is also Thanksgiving)

Thursday is Thanksgiving, but it’s also the 55th anniversary of the Kennedy assassination. The historic Texas Theatre — do we need to tell you that Lee Harvey Oswald was captured there? — shows “JFK” at 3 p.m., and the films showing on the day of the assassination,“War Is Hell” and “Cry of Battle,” start at 1:20 p.m. Admission for those two films costs the 1963 price of 90 cents.

The Texas Gentlemen are home for the holiday and performing at the Kessler Friday.

Oak Cliff’s own legendary jazz man Dennis González performs at Top Ten Records starting at 7:30 p.m.

If you’re shopping this weekend, please shop local.
