Man accused in the shooting death of his roommate

An argument Sunday night ended in the shooting death of Christopher Rubio in the 2700 block of 12th Street.

Rubio’s roommate, 39-year-old Gilbert Martinez, is accused of killing him.

Neighbors say they were arguing at about 7:30 p.m. One told police he heard Martinez say, “You better call 911 if you want them to save your life.” Another heard arguing and then a “pop,” according to WFAA.

Rubio was taken to Methodist Dallas Medical Center, and he told Dallas Fire-Rescue, “my roommate shot me, and I think it was a 9-millimeter.”

Police arrested Martinez after searching the house and finding a 9-mm handgun.

Martinez is charged with murder and is in jail pending a $100,000 bond.
