Shoes That Fit, a California-based nonprofit, and Oak Cliff-based mortgage lender Bosse Companies donated more than 120 pairs of new athletic shoes to Barbara Jordan students.

Shoes That Fit director of operations Karen McMillen said basics like a good pair of shoes can go a long way in a child’s education.

“If a child goes to school in shoes that are too tight, falling apart or don’t smell good, it impacts their entire sense of self,” McMillen says. “We found that giving a pair of new shoes to kids can really brighten their behavior in such a profound way.”
