Townview principal Ben Mackey elected to Dallas ISD Board of Trustees

An Oak Cliff high school principal won the race for District 7 Dallas ISD trustee, representing part of Oak Cliff.

Former trustee Audrey Pinkerton did not seek reelection, and Ben Mackey beat out Cliff Temple Baptist Church pastor Brent McDougal to win the seat.

Mackey, who served as principal of the School for the Talented and Gifted at Townview Center for six years, has a master’s degree in school leadership from Harvard University.

He recently resigned from Dallas ISD to accept a position in the troubled Desoto ISD.

“This is about making sure that every student in Dallas ISD has access to an excellent education,” Mackey wrote on Facebook. “This is about all of the incredible people that make up our beautiful mosaic of a community here in North Oak Cliff and in District 7.”
