A $157-million renovation of the mall includes $22 million in economic development funds from the City of Dallas.

Atlanta-based Chime Solutions is building a 50,000-square-foot call center. It’s currently under construction on the the mall’s second story. The company plans to hire 500 people when the center opens this coming fall, and they could expand by another 500 jobs after that.

The green space on which the mall’s redevelopment centers is under construction. Dallas-based architecture firm OMNIPLAN is designing the project.

And Foot Locker has plans to bring its larger footprint store to the mall. A 20,000 Foot Locker Power store is planned on one side of the green space. This is one of more than 50 Foot Locker Power stores the retailer plans to open in partnership with Nike across the United States. The first Power stores already rolled out in New York, Philadelphia and Detroit.

A restaurant is planned on the other side of the green space.

Besides that, UT Southwestern is brining about 100 jobs to Red Bird with an outpatient center that is expected to open next year.
