Jed’s Grill made it four years at 1001 W. Jefferson, which might be a record.
Now a local sandwich chain plans to give it a shot at the corner of Jefferson and Polk, where a series of good restaurants with popular followings have struggled and closed over the past 10 years.
Tortas la Hechizera, a Grand Prairie-based restaurant with a number of outposts in the Dallas area, put up a “coming soon.”
The restaurant specializes in enormous sandwiches on fresh-baked bolillos but also serves enchiladas, tacos and chilaquiles with eggs.
Tortas la Hechizera already has a location at 119 W. Jefferson, and it’s not clear if that will close once the new one opens.
That intersection is due for major change soon. The $6.4-million project to change Tyler and Polk to two-way streets is expected to begin any time.
