It’s demolition season in Bishop Arts.
Most of the old apartment buildings in the 500 block of 8th Street are gone.
Lennar Multifamily Corp. purchased the block with plans to build an apartment complex. The only two buildings standing are one at the northwest corner of 8th and Adams, which was damaged by fire in March, and the house in the center of the block, which caused a dustup earlier this year. We asked a Lennar representative what the plans are for those two buildings but have not yet heard back.
Also demolished recently were several Bishop Arts cottages, at 9th Street and Llewellyn, which had been neglected. The owner of these properties — corporate alias Bishop Dev 2 LLC, which has an address in Desoto — also had a ticket for high weeds Tuesday.
