If both sides are ready to move forward, jury selection will begin May 9.

Manuel Tellez is accused of stabbing 52-year-old Anthony Moreno and then burning his body in an alley behind Kings Highway near Edgefield in April 2022.

Tellez, who owned Maroches Bakery on West Davis Street, live-streamed an interview with Moreno prior to killing him, police say. According to an arrest affidavit, Tellez and Moreno had romantic feelings for the same woman.

For the last year, Tellez has been held at the Dallas County jail with bail set at $1.5 million.
